Moderately Interesting (and belated) Morning Fact for May 31, 2012: Clint Eastwood political science edition

Born today 82 years ago was actor and director Clint Eastwood, best known for his role as Harry Callahan in five “Dirty Harry” films and Man with No Name in Sergio Leone‘s Dollars trilogy of spaghetti westerns. He also served as the nonpartisan mayor of Carmel-by-the-Sea, Calif., from 1986 to 1988. Eastwood sought office because he failed to receive a desired variance for his restaurant there. He fought to overturn a law that banned eating ice cream in public. He told a reporter his political philosophy was neither wholly left nor wholly right, but rather libertarian which, he said is, “everyone leaves everyone else alone.”
