Drunken fans wreck ‘Big Lebowski’ cast reunion in New York

The men, and woman, of 'The Big Lebowski,' gathered in New York to celebrate the 1998 cult film's release on BluRay.

The Dude abides in high definition.

They’re releasing the 1998 cult film “The Big Lebowski” on Blu-ray disc for the first time. This strikes me as unnecessary. It seems unlikely that the Dude ever owned a DVD player let alone a Blu-Ray. The guy listened to Bob Dylan and Credence Clearwater Revival on mix tapes, man. He listened to bowling on mix tape.

Somebody gave him an early mobile phone. He never answered it.

The cast got together for Lebowski celebrations in New  York this week. It was a drunken, slobbery mess, Rolling Stone magazine reports.

“On paper, this is the outline for an amazing night. Unfortunately, the panel discussion didn’t go very well. The sight of Jeff Bridges, John Goodman, Steve Buscemi, Julianne Moore, John Turturro and musical supervisor T-Bone Burnett together again was awe-inspiring – but group interviews are notoriously hard to carry off,” wrote Rolling Stone reporter Andy Green. “Factor in thousands of drunken fans screaming out lines from the movie every three seconds and endless sound problems that made it near-impossible for the panel to hear anything, and you have a borderline disaster. Entertainment Weekly writer Clark Collis was a trooper as moderator and did his best to navigate through the chaos, but you could see his frustration boiling over as the night went on. During a forty-minute discussion, he was able to ask about five or so questions to the panel.”

Drunks, man, they harsh everyone’s buzz. They just don’t know how to relax.

I once watched “Lebowski” 146 days in a row. I was very mellow.
