Moderately Interesting Morning Fact June 25, 2012: Mentally-Ill Kat Edition

Today in 1944, the final page of the comic strip Krazy Kat was published, exactly two months after its author George Herriman died. Krazy Kat published daily in newspapers beginning in 1913. Set in a dreamlike portrayal of Herriman’s vacation home of Coconino County, Arizona, Krazy Kats mixture of offbeat surrealism, innocent playfulness and poetic, idiosyncratic language has made it a favorite of comics aficionados and art critics for more than 80 years.
