5 sentence review of Two and a Half Men

Season 9, Episode 20: “Grandma’s Pie”

5. I gave “Two and a Half Men” a little break in hopes it might improve while my eyeballs were away.

4. It didn’t.

3. Alan’s mom (Marin Hinkle) enters into a lesbian relationship with his girlfriend’s mom (Holland Taylor), a move that I suppose is empowering to the septuagenarian set, but is otherwise more gross than funny.

2. Zoey (Sophie Winkleman) returns from London to discover Walden (Ashton Kutcher) is in business with his ex-wife (Judy Greer) and goes stereotypical jealous girlfriend on Waldon, so he asks her and her daughter to move in with him — which would leave Alan (Jon Cryer) and Jake (Angus T. Jones) the odd men out.

1. “Two and a Half Men” has lost the most popular comedy in the nation title to “The Big Bang Theory,” but still remains immensely popular even though ratings have more than halved from the 28 million who tuned in for Kutcher’s debut to about 11 million last week and is likely to renewed, but it feels like the show is wrapping up rather than moving forward.

Sophie Winkleman's turn as a recurring cast member on "Two and a Half Men" has been one of the few bright spots in the Charlie Sheen-free era.
