5 sentence recap of Torchwood: Miracle Day Episode 5

Gwen Cooper wasn't a big part of the fifth episode of Torchwood: Miracle Day, but this is not going to stop General Tso from posting her photo with the review.

Alas, poor Dr. Juarez. I was just getting warmed up to you. Then you got warmed up.

5. Ovens!

4. I’ll say no more on that save it is deliciously evil and revives my faith this series about the undying has a lot of life left in it.

3. Top-flight work by Lauren Ambrose, whose smarmy, amoral PR hack Jilly is so vile I want Oswald Danes to choke her, and to Bill Pullman, who as execution survivor Oswald, is stealing the entire series.

2. Poor Capt. Jack still seems callow; I want to believe this is a nuanced performance by John Barrowman, showing how Jack’s new mortality makes him feel vulnerable, but I don’t really believe that.

1. Capt. Jack isn’t acting like the lead of the series, and unless he gets his mojo, this incarnation of “Torchwood” remains Category Two.

About Daniel P. Finney

A misanthrope, iconoclast and general grouch since the late 1980s, Daniel P. Finney has been a professional paragraph stacker since 1993. He reports. He writes. He blogs. He tweets. He beats deadlines. He amuses (himself, at least.) He informs. He adapts. He keeps moving forward. He eschews gatherings. The highlights of his week are Sunday chicken wings, new comics Wednesday and naps during televised sporting events. He does not wonder if there is a player to be named later in his life and spends most of his waking hours desperately trying to be left alone.
